Preparation: In a medium-size non-stick skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium to medium-low heat. When oil is HOT, place 4 vegan crab cakes in skillet, cover with lid and set timer for 5 minutes. Turn to opposite side, adding a little more oil if necessary, cover, reduce temperature to low and cook for 5-7 minutes longer. Internal temperature should reach 160 degrees. Serve immediately with favorite side dishes.

I will be fair and say that I have been a vegetarian for 18 years, so my memory of how an actual crab meat cake tastes has faded somewhat, but wow. These things taste GREAT. I mean, so much like a crab cake that I am in awe. I used some tarter sauce and it was even better. It is not a spicy, heavy seafood taste, but close enough for me. Highly recommend! I am so grateful for the advances that have been made in vegetarian and vegan foods.

Great Sunday Dinner Item

I just tried these for the 1st time and I prepared them exactly as instucted - got the oil nice and hot and then put the crabcakes in. I made some roasted rutabagas and potatoes and cabbage and leeks to go alongside. My very carnivorous son begged to please make him a plate cuz they smelled so yummy cooking. A GREAT Sunday dinner and a good way to get my sons to eat more vegan meals.
Pretty close to the real thing

My husband recently switched to a vegan diet and since he is from the Maryland area, crab cakes were something he thought he would never have again. I surprised him with these and he loved them. If you are looking for something with authentic seafood-like taste, I'd say give it a shot.
