Harvest Direct Veggie Ribs Mix
A great way to make vegan, wheat gluten-based "veggie ribs." Easy to use mix makes delicious BBQ ibs in less than 20 minutes. Guaranteed to satisfy even the biggest meat-eaters! Makes over 1 pound. No MSG. 5 oz box.
You will need:
1/2 cup water
2 tbsp tahini or reduced fat peanut butter
1 1/2 tbsp melted vegan margarine
1 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Pour Veggie Ribs Mix into a medium mixing bowl. Add water and mix with hands to form a soft, elastic dough (about 30 seconds). Shape dough into a 5" x 5" square and place back in bowl.
Combine tahini or peanut butter and melted margarine and pour 1/2 over dough. Blend this into dough by poking fingers deeply into dough and 20-30 seconds. Turn dough over and repeat process with rest of mix.
Place dough on cutting surface and cut into 1/2" thick slices, then cut slices again in half-lengthwise. Place ribs on a 10" x 15" lightly greased cookie sheet, leaving space between ribs. Bake for 10 minutes and remove from oven. Bottoms should be browned. Turn ribs over, baste with BBQ sauce, and return to oven for 5-7 minutes. Remove from oven, place ribs on a serving dish, basting with BBQ sauce as you go. Serve and enjoy!
Ingredients: Vital wheat gluten, nutritional yeast, wheat flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, dehydrated onion, vegetable broth base (maltodextrin, salt, corn and wheat protein, dehydrated vegetables, soy sauce powder, spices, autolyzed yeast extract).
