Dr. Cow's Aged Cashew Cheese is an exquisite organic raw cheese that has been made by hand using traditional techniques, then aged for three months. Great source of vegetable protein and beneficial bacteria to enhance digestion. Gluten-free. 2.6 oz.

I'm vegan, pregnant and craving cheese, so I purchased basically every vegan cheese on the veganstore website! When the Dr. Cow came, I was really surprised by how small it was. Its about the size of a large cracker and I guess for 10$, I was expecting more. My husband and I tried it right away and agreed that it was not the answer to our vegan prayers. The texture is that of a very hard, dairy-based cheese, but the flavor is almost nothing. The buttery-ness of the cashews is absent and this cheese offers little to get excited about it. I gave it a 2 because if you were having a vegan wine / cheese party, it might be nice to have the variety of Dr. Cow for shape / texture. But, overall, I do not recommend.

The dr cow cheese I am so sorry this was not what I expected! It is very small Also I found it to be flaky and actually bitter tasting. Maybe I have been vegan too long to remember sharp cheese....I guess I really don't miss it, Jb
Wow!

I have been vegan for many years and have gone thru many substitutes for food. This was the most foul-tasting thing I have ever eaten in my life, and I am very forgiving. I was actually feeling like I might have been punked.
Delicious - but not for everyone!

I think this stuff is amazing! But it's like gourmet "stinky" cheese, so unless you know you liked the dairy version of that kind of cheese, be forewarned.
Dr. Cow raw cheese soooo delicious!

As a raw foodist I have only the highest praise for Dr. Cow's aged chestnut cheeses. I do believe it's an acquired taste, but raw foodists will enjoy it, I'm sure!
Lovely!

Dr. Cow is not your typical vegan cheese. If you are looking for melty stuff for pizza or traditional American cheese, this is not what you are looking for. If you want a product that tastes great with whisky, fits nicely into fancy appetizers/dishes, this is a great choice. The taste is slightly sour, reminiscent of a yogurt cheese if memory serves, and a bit nutty/sharp. The texture is similar to many hard cheeses. Great on woven wheat crackers. Cons: The package is small-- it is an expensive product.
WTF? This is amazing. How can anyone not love it?

WTF? People actually don't like this??? I don't get it. It is my single favorite food, or at least up there on my top 10. I dream about it at night. I get such cravings for it that if I pass it on a store shelf, I have to spend the $10 on it. It's really breaking me! I think it tastes way better than regular cheese, and I'm not even a vegan right now (though trying to go back). If I could buy this affordably, giving up cheese would be NO problem at all. It's the only cheese substitute that I really love.

I have to say it is an acquired taste. It reminds me of hummus in a solid state. It really doesn't taste like cheese but has the characteristics of cheese ie creaminess, texture, presentation. I tried the sampler pack and some I liked more than others. It didn't go so well with wine which I was disappointed about but I would definitely be ok with substituting this for hard cheese if it weren't for the price for such a small quantity. Although I have had some pricey cheeses so I guess it's comparable in that it is made with organic nuts which are also quite expensive.
